The
Laurel Wreath Honors Society is the oldest and most distinguished
organization of its kind on Austin Peay State University’s
campus. This multi-disciplined honors group is made up of some of
the best and brightest members of the APSU community, including
top-notch students, faculty, and staff. Admission requirements generally
mirror those of the Honors Program: top ten percent high school
class rank, minimum composite ACT score of 26 or higher, and commendable
high school record (These requirements are flexible – the
most important characteristic is willingness to learn in a more
challenging, creative academic environment).
Laurel Wreath Honors Society recruits successful students and provides
them opportunities for personal and professional enhancement through
social, academic, and community-centered events. Members are able
to interact with other like-minded individuals and form networks
that will last throughout college and beyond. Leadership opportunities
abound within Laurel Wreath, including the top position of President.
Each year, the Laurel Wreath Honors Society’s president is
asked to give the address during the annual Awards Day Ceremony,
sharing the stage with other distinguished faculty and students.
This is always a special honor for the president and organization
as a whole and shows the value the APSU community places on the
Laurel Wreath Honors Society and its members.
